Ivan Simeonov

Biography:

Ivan Simeonov is a Professor and holds a Ph.D. at the Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Department of Biotechnology. He completed his education at the Technical University of Sofia, Electrical Faculty, specializing in Automatics (1971). He further pursued advanced studies at Université Paris VI and École Supérieure d'Électricité (France) during 1971–1973. In 1981, he earned his Ph.D. in Engineering (Automatics) from the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. He served as the Head of a Research Group at the Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology from 1995 to 2020 and as Deputy Director from 2012 to 2016. Following his retirement, he continues his scientific activities through civil contracts. His primary research interests include bioautomatics, mathematical modelling, optimization and control of biotechnological processes, and anaerobic digestion of organic waste, covering both fundamental and applied aspects.
