I feel the pleasure and a big honor to write a welcome note for Biofuels 2022. Plants are unbelievable factories that produce huge amounts of chemicals. Moreover, this production is completely environmentally neutral. They also consume carbon dioxide and provide the Earth with oxygen and food for humans and animals. As early as antiquity, plants were used as a source of energy. The discovery of fossil fuels gave the impetus to the acceleration of industrial development that has ensured today's standard of living and today's level of technology. As a result of this development, despite its many positive aspects, we humans face the challenges of global warming and must create new resources of energy and materials for ourselves and future generations. Biofuels appear to be one of the pathways that can, at least to some extent, help to solve the problems that have arisen. I think that our efforts should focus primarily on the development of efficient ways of producing, distributing and consuming biofuels. It also seems necessary to identify ways to ensure the availability of natural, biological crops for the production of food and energy for the human economy and the protection of wildlife. With this in mind, have a quiet time for friendly discussions, generating new ideas, and working together all over the world to build a better future.
